One of the
most innovative camps for YES Alumni from around Pakistan for the first time
ever! Alumni from Gwadar, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Quetta,
Kalat and Khair Pur participated in the amazing tech-innovation week in Karachi
from 5th to 10th September 2014!
With unique
skills, YES Alumni have already been working for the development of their community
with their great ideas. Now after this incredible camp, alumni developed new
skills in addition to knowledge about a lot of things. It basically zoomed in
the big picture of communal development and the understanding of business world
as well as abbreviations such as ABCD “Asset Based Community Development”, HCDT
“Human Centered Design Thinking” etc.
The
incredible training sessions and activities by our amazing trainers; Jahanzaib,
Awis and Charity enabled the alumni to explore and come up with great solutions
to burning problems of their community. Perhaps
the ideas that alumni always had and resources that always existed in the
community but the alumni were unaware to highlight those before. Now they
intensively understand the problems and can come up with innovative solutions.
During
the first four days, alumni went through a number of learning sessions and practical
activities. On the last day, alumni with in groups presented their business
ideas before a panel of judges and other alumni. Because of being great
solutions to communal problems, each group’s idea grabbed the attention of the
judges but finally “Stitch to Save” won the Alumni grant by US Consulate
Karachi!
The Alumni believe that such workshops are great opportunities for them to develop new skills and become greater change motives for their community and finally they thank YES and iEARN as well as Ma’am Farah, Sir Saleem, Hassan Saeed, Sarah, Christine, and the great trainers Jazib, Awais and Charity for their dedication!
