“Empowering the Adolescent Girls: Ending the Cycle of
Violence”
This year’s theme for the International Day for the Girl
Child by UN dragged the attention of every organization that defends human
rights along with advocating for gender equality and social development around
the world.
YES Alumni being change motives for their communities conducted
workshops in different cities by iEARN Pakistan (International Education and
Resource Network), SIE (Society for International Education).
YES Alumna from Gwadar conducted a one-day workshop at
her English Language center in Gwadar to celebrate the day with her students
along with sharing the importance of the occasion and providing significant
knowledge regarding the scholarship opportunities.
The students discussed rights and responsibilities that a
woman must assert during her diverse roles in the society. The success stories of women who have done incredible
works around the world were discussed.
As we live in a society where adolescent girls are the
victims of various issues, thus the issues and the changes were brought forth
and the students got an opportunity to brainstorm possible solutions towards
them.
This workshop focused on rights and responsibilities of
the girls in a broader sense thus this will enable them to further be empowered
and make right career choices.
